I offer talking therapies where I use evidence-based approaches. Our sessions will aim to understand you as a person and make sense of your struggles. We will explore your emotions and circumstances together that may be contributing to your distress. We will aim to develop more helpful coping skills for you. Our sessions could also be used for your personal growth and exploring ways of leading a more meaningful life if you wish to.
A standard therapy session is 50 minutes long.
Your initial session will be an assessment. This is an opportunity for me to understand what has brought you to therapy and what your therapeutic goals are. It is also an opportunity for you to understand my approach and ask any questions you might have regarding therapy and your treatment. After our first session, you can then decide whether you would like to continue therapy with me.
The simple answer is ‘no’. You can have as many sessions as you wish, though I may recommend a minimum set number of sessions for therapy to be effective. Please also remember that at times therapy may bring up difficult emotions and you may find therapy challenging. If you experience such emotions, I would encourage you to bring them up to our session, as these can allow us to work together and address any issues that may be relevant to your therapeutic goals.
The number of your sessions will be based on your individual needs and discussed with you throughout your treatment plan. I can offer you short-term (between 10-20 sessions) or long-term therapy.
Currently, I only offer online therapy sessions. Please make sure that you are in a safe, comfortable and private space since our sessions should remain confidential. If you have any concerns about arranging that space, please get in touch with me and we can discuss a solution for you.
This is a common question for people starting therapy. You do not have to disclose any details about your childhood and you are in charge of sharing as much information with me as you wish. We can then tailor your therapy based on your current circumstances and emotions. However, it is usually helpful for me to understand the basics of your past that could be relevant to your current distress, as often those are the contributing factors in your current emotions and behaviour. However, we can take it one session at a time and only talk about your past when (or if) you are ready.
